Morita Shokudo (Canteen)
Founded in 1913 (Taisho era), this classic canteen is a 1-minute walk from Kure Station. One of 'Kure's Three Great Canteens.' Customers choose side dishes from a vintage refrigerated display case—simmered tofu at 300 yen, rolled egg at 150 yen, and various Showa-era dishes. Open from 8:30 AM, it's the daily stop for local craftsmen, MSDF personnel, and students.
Yahoo Maps 4.12 (29 reviews), 226 Tabelog reviews (7,813 saves). Many repeat visitor posts confirmed: 'Lots of locals even at weekend lunchtime,' 'My 6th visit.' Reviews also include 'They've maintained the Taisho-era flavors' and 'A must-visit when in Kure.' Confirmed featured on NHK '100 Cameras' in January 2025 for the '100-year restaurants' special.
