Since its founding as a yatai street stall in 1963, Hakata Gion Tetsunabe has stood as the originator of the iron-pot gyoza style that defines the neighbourhood.
昭和38年（1963年）の屋台創業から60年以上、博多祇園の街に根を張り続ける鉄なべ餃子の元祖だ。
The dumplings are arranged in concentric circles in a rounded iron pan, and both wrappers and filling are made fresh by hand each day — there is no takeaway, no frozen sales, because the whole point is this moment, this meal.
丸い鉄鍋に同心円状に並んだ餃子は皮も具も毎日手作りで仕込み、土産・冷凍販売は一切行わない──今この店でしか食べられない味にこそ価値がある。
Named to the Tabelog Gyoza 100 Best list in 2019, 2021, and 2024, the restaurant accepts no reservations and yet draws a queue before the doors open, with twelve pieces priced at just 500 to 700 yen.
