Wagashi Hosoi
A fresh Japanese sweets (wagashi) shop tucked in the rural landscape of Kasukabe's Kamikanesaki district—no signboard, just a house. Owner Tatsuya Hosoi trained at a renowned wagashi shop in Asagaya, Tokyo, before returning home to Kasukabe to open his own place. He insists on Hokkaido-grown azuki beans and Saitama-grown wheat flour; fresh confections made daily sell out and the shop closes. Selected for Tabelog's 'Wagashi East Top 100' in 2020 and 2023. Tabelog 3.67, 236 reviews, 18,000+ saves; Yahoo! Maps 4.25. Some regulars call it 'Japan's best dorayaki.' A red banner marks when it's open. Takeout only—no seating.
"This is my regular wagashi shop. The anko (sweet bean paste) is truly delicious." "6th visit—I arrive early to beat the sellout." "A top-100 shop that's hard to find, but it's absolutely worth it." "The dorayaki is, without exaggeration, the best in Japan." "Worth traveling far to find—a genuine hidden gem."
