Menmusha
Established in April 2005, a beloved local ramen institution with nearly 20 years in Shinjo. The signature is a double soup combining rich chicken/pork bone paitan (simmered 10+ hours) with seafood stock. Notable also for thick-cut chashu and extra-large menma. Pre-opening weekend queues are standard. Tabelog score 3.44 (165 reviews); TripAdvisor #5 in Shinjo (4.4/5). Celebrated its 20th anniversary in April 2025.
Reviews include: 'The rich soup unchanged since 2005 gives reassurance,' 'The thick chashu is in a class of its own,' 'A must-eat every time I come to Shinjo,' 'On weekends you have to queue to get in.' Supported by both local regulars and ramen enthusiasts from across Japan.
