Eel Wakanakan
Founded in 1897 (Meiji 30), this legendary eel restaurant has stood for over 125 years on the 2nd floor of Wakana Building right in front of Ueda Station. Prepared in the Kanto style (back-split, steamed then grilled), the fluffy, delicate eel is its pride. Takeout kabayaki (grilled eel) is also popular among long-time regulars. Google 4.3, Tabelog 3.51/120 reviews, TripAdvisor 4.5.
