Minoko
A legendary ishiyaki (stone-cooking) restaurant at Nyudozaki on the Oga Peninsula. A traditional fisherman's dish passed down in Oga, where stones heated to 800-1000°C are dropped into cedar buckets to instantly boil fresh wild red sea bream. Reservations are strongly recommended — walk-ins are often turned away.
TripAdvisor 4.4 (2nd in Oga), 153 Tabelog reviews. Praised as 'hard to reserve but absolutely worth it', 'the spectacle of ishiyaki cooking is overwhelming', and 'the flavor of wild sea bream is perfectly concentrated'. Visitors make special trips from Morioka and Tokyo.
