Jintei
An old-established diner in Tsurumidai, Koriyama, unanimously called 'the yaki-katsu place in Koriyama' by locals. Selected as Tabelog Shokudo Top 100 Restaurants 2026. The signature 'Jintei-style Yaki-katsu'—pork loin stuffed with cheese, ham, and shiso leaf, then grilled rather than fried—delivers a surprisingly light texture. It comes with a mountain of salad, two house-made dressings, and a generous bowl of rice. Lines form before opening, and one-hour waits are common. Many regulars have been coming for 30+ years, and the menu written on a folding fan has become a Koriyama institution.
'I've been coming for nearly 30 years and the taste never changes.' 'Waited over an hour but completely satisfied.' 'Can't think of anywhere else for katsu in Koriyama.' 'Outrageous value and volume—this quantity at this price.' 'First time trying yaki-katsu. I liked it far more than fried katsu.'
