Shanghai Hanayuen - Chinese Home Cooking
A long-established Chinese restaurant in Hyuga City founded in 1929 (Showa 4), with over 95 years of history. Located just steps from JR Hyuga City Station's west exit, marked by a distinctive red 'welcome' sign. Rebranded as 'Chinese Home Cooking Shanghai Hanayuen' in September 2022. Signature handmade gyoza dumplings are made from scratch by Sun, a grandson of a Chinese employee, using leeks, cabbage, napa cabbage, onions, ginger, garlic, and juicy pork. The daily lunch special—limited to 30 servings and rotated monthly—fills up on weekdays. Google Reviews: 4.1/139. Takeout available.
Multiple returning-customer posts: 'I often come here while waiting for my train—the food arrives remarkably fast,' 'I keep coming back.' Gyoza praised as 'juicy with handmade wrappers.' TripAdvisor 4.5, Jalan.net 4.0, Yahoo Maps 3.6. The only Chinese restaurant in Hyuga City with 100+ Google reviews at 4.1 stars. Lunch is consistently packed.
