Chuka Shokudo Kumagai
A long-established Chinese diner founded in 1947 (Showa 22) by the current 3rd-generation owner's grandmother. Current owner Shigeki Kumagai studied Chinese cuisine in Tokyo before reopening in 1998. The two signature dandan noodles — white and black — with a firm spice profile have made this one of the most famous ramen shops in Sanriku. Draws queues from outside the city and prefecture. After the 2011 tsunami, it served as a community gathering place for 5 years in a temporary Takekoma location. Now operates in Rikuzentakata Machinaka Terrace.
