Shima-doufu Haru Oba Shokudo
About a 5-minute drive from Miyako Airport. A shima-doufu (island tofu) restaurant where the owner's mother, Haru, has hand-made tofu for 65 years; its 'mago-doufu' won first place in the National Tofu Competition. By day it's a shokudo serving Miyako soba and tofu set meals, by night it turns into an izakaya serving local Okinawan dishes. Renovated and reopened in November 2022.
Reviewers praise the tofu as 'rich, with real soybean flavor' and the Miyako soba broth as 'deep, made from bonito and pork bone.' At lunchtime, local residents come for the nostalgic flavors alongside tourists, though some reviews note slow food service and 1-2 hour waits at peak times. Tabelog 3.48 (378 reviews).
