Kamiyama Handmade Soba
A hidden gem handmade soba restaurant nestled in the mountains of northern Sano. Features soba made from locally grown buckwheat that is ground in-house using a unique method and kneaded with spring water. Reopened at a new location in 2021 after damage from Typhoon Hagibis in 2019. Visitors come from neighboring prefectures on weekends, with waits of up to 1 hour on Sunday mornings. Vegetable tempura is especially popular. Enjoy authentic soba surrounded by nature.
High praise for the soba's aroma, texture, and tempura preparation. Many repeat visitors from distant areas, with comments like 'I come every year for the new soba season.' The combination of mountain scenery and food is described as exceptional. About 40 minutes by car from central Sano, but consistently rated as worth the trip.
