Miyako Zushi Honten
A hidden gem sushi restaurant in a residential area of Kozushima. Completely reservation-based; phone reservations required by 6 PM the day before. Specializes in island sushi using only seasonal local fish (flying fish in spring, takahe and akaiika in summer, striped bonito and blackthroat seaperch in fall/winter). Large pieces of fish — very filling. Sea lettuce bowl for ¥1,000 is exceptional value. Tabelog 3.03/12 reviews (low count due to the reservation-only format on a remote island). Featured in multiple travel blogs as 'must-visit when on Kozushima.' Average spend ¥2,000-2,999 (Tabelog confirmed).
Reviews highlight 'I can't believe sushi of this quality exists on such a small island,' 'The freshness of local fish is on a different level,' and 'Locals know it's exceptional, but tourists don't because of the reservation requirement.' Few reviews but high quality, consistently featured in multiple travel blogs. Listed on official Kozushima Tourism Guide. Many 'want to go' registrations on Retty. No fake reviews.
